The Food and Drug Administration(FDA) recently released a warning on Friday about marijuana-infused copycat food products that are similar to the popular brands but actually have THC combined with the products that can be harmful, especially for children.

Some of the products are packaged to look like Cocoa Pebbles, Cocoa Puffs, Fruity Pebbles, Starbursts, and others as per their notice.

Major companies like Pepsi, General Mills, etc., have raised their concern about punishing such copycats. The FDA is actively working with federal and state partners to address these concerns and is regularly monitoring the market for any adverse events, product complaints, or other cannabis-infused products in the market.

According to their notice, many people are unknowingly consuming marijuana products and have experienced negative side effects. In such cases in the future, the person should quickly connect with an emergency service, poison control center, or healthcare provider. It is also suggested to report such accidental events through the FDA’s MedWatch Safety Information and Adverse Event Reporting Program.

Their goal is also to prevent the usage of marijuana for people under the legal age as there are many studies that show adolescent cannabis consumption can have serious consequences without adequate precautionary measures.

FDA has issued the first set of warnings to companies that illegally sell products containing the popular cannabinoid delta-8 THC. The agency also sets out five major warning letters to companies that are currently marketing products with intoxicating compounds with unsanctioned claims about any therapeutic potential for consumption in individuals.
